Shakur Ebanks | Community Service

Shakur Ebanks is driven to give back to his country in the best way he can. As a member of the Kiwanis Key Club Shakur has managed to dedicate approximately 75 community service hours per annum to his involvement in numerous clean-up, beautification and outreach activities and community-based projects over the past eight years.


Twenty-year-old Shakur’s efforts were formally recognised in 2017 when he received the Most Distinguished Member Award at the Kiwanis Key Club Florida District Convention for having participated in the planning and execution of more than 30 service projects.


He was also the recipient of the Kiwanis Key Club Outstanding Service and Outstanding Key Club Member Awards that year.

The current Key Club Chairperson has also served as Club Vice President and has had the distinction of representing the Cayman Islands Key Clubs at the Kiwanis Clubs International Convention.


His leadership skills, initiative and service-oriented approach have not only been acknowledged by the Key Club but also by John Gray High School in 2017 when Shakur was presented with the Community Service Student Award during his graduation from the institution.


While at John Gray he was a prefect, youth parliament representative, and Vice president of production for his Junior Achievement company.


He is currently pursuing a degree in business administration at the University College of the Cayman Islands, and is involved in the Protect Our Future movement, the Student Council, the Youth to Youth Advisory Board.
