Peyton Morrison | Culture

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

Peyton Morrison is currently a student at John Gray High School (JGHS). She was born on February 9th 2012, and is a twin sister to (2023 Proud of Them Rising Star) Mal’yka Morrison.

Peyton is incredibly passionate about dance. As the youngest 2023 Proud of Them Honouree, she strives to share Cayman’s culture, by impacting audiences locally and in other parts of the world. Peyton is an active member of Dreamchasers Cayman where she (joined by her sister) has performed a variety of challenging dance numbers that spark interest and connection with her audience. She enjoys the thrill of executing a performance that is precise and highly creative.

One of Peyton’s major accomplishments include getting accepted into Harlem School of the Performing Arts and Dance Theatre of Harlem, for two (2) consecutive years of summer programming. This is an experience she will always cherish and it has made herself and her family very proud. She continues to hone her artistic skills with the influence of instructors abroad, but also those closer to home; such as her mother, Melisha McField who leads her dance troupe and provides direction to herself, her sister and peers with an interest in expressing themselves through community and school performances.

One-day Peyton wishes to give back to her community by excelling in dance and keeping the Cayman culture alive through dance. The movement of our bodies, and the movement of our culture can make a huge impact in being seen and understood. Peyton hopes to lead this movement for the future of our culture.
