Tyler began taking piano lessons when he was five years old. He won Bronze at his very
first National Children’s Festival of the Arts (NCFA), when he was just six years old. He has
delivered Gold Award performances at NCFA ever since. From a young age, his passion
for musical performance has been focused on piano, even though his natural musical
talent extends to other instruments.

In addition to playing at recitals and festivals, Tyler has performed regularly at his school’s
morning devotions, assemblies, annual concerts and Leavers’ Ceremony. In March 2025,
Tyler was named the Butterfield Young Musician of the Year. He recently completed his
Grade 8 piano examinations with Trinity College London. Over the years, Tyler has
consistently been awarded Merit or Distinction for all of his piano examinations. He is
currently working towards an Associate Diploma in piano with Trinity.
Tyler plans to continue performing at local recitals and festivals. He is also exploring
opportunities to perform at international piano events and is considering his future plans
for continuing his passion for piano during university.
He engages a variety of activities in addition to piano performances. Tyler especially
enjoys sailing, and has been training with the Sailing Club from a young age. He also
enjoys chess and his school chess team recently won the Inter-school Chess Tournament.
The discipline that Tyler has developed with his piano studies has been of great benefit to
him with his academic studies and his other extracurricular activities. He looks forward to
inspiring other youth through the Proud of Them Programme.
